Mariner Friendly Congregations

Global Trade Depends On Mariners Who Depend On You.

Seafarers' House relies on and deeply values the support of faith-based communities who make our mission possible. Mariner Friendly Congregations partner with Seafarers' House in its ministry.

Seafarers' House provides worship resources for faith communities of all denominations to share in maritime ministry, and Seafarers' House chaplains are available to speak to churches, youth groups and other organizations. Without the support of congregations, Seafarers' House could not accomplish its unique and valuable work.

Mariner Friendly Congregation Program Guidelines

For its MFC community, Seafarers' House promises to:

  • Send a chaplain or other representative at least once a year to preach or talk about SFH’s ministry
  • Provide materials for Seafarers’ Sunday, Sunday School/small group classes, volunteer opportunities and areas of interest
  • List your name on our website as a MFC
  • Present you with a MFC certificate
  • Invite you to join our ministry hands-on at our hospitality centers or work sites

As a committed partner of Seafarers' House, a MFC promises to:

  • Receive a chaplain or other Seafarers' House representative once a year to visit OR come visit Seafarers' House at least once a year (time/location allowing)
  • Include seafarers and Seafarers' House in your Prayers of Intercession regularly, especially around Maritime Day (May 22) or on a designated Seafarers’ Sunday
  • Hyperlink to Seafarers' House on your website (under the Mission or Outreach heading)
  • Provide volunteer, in-kind and financial support as possible (e.g., Shoebox Christmas, knitting or collecting gift items, volunteering at a hospitality center or making an outreach grant)

Our mission is possible only with your support. If you are interested in joining our mission as a Mariner Friendly Congregation please contact us at (954)734-1580 or padre@seafarershouse.org.
