Father Sandy Celebrated as Fort Lauderdale Hero

Please join the entire Seafarers’ House team in congratulating our Chaplain, Father Sandy for being named a local hero by the  Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau!

His work with the pastoral team to provide support and care to seafarers ‘marooned’ in local hotels due to the extraordinary circumstances created by the pandemic, was noted by our friends at Port Everglades and his name was submitted for this designation and selected for inclusion.  Thank you to Maisy Alpert on the Port Everglades team for making the submission.

Since the time of this submission, the number of crew members our team is helping between Fort Lauderdale and Miami has grown to 40.  Father Sandy continues to follow up on requests from home country embassies to offer final rites and blessings and provide support and comfort to grieving families.
